Spinels are gemstones that come in many colours. It is known that their exceptional clarity and high lustre when polished, is what makes them the perfect backdrop for the subtle charms of grey hues.

Most grey spinel has a minor blue or violet secondary color component. It is relatively rare to find a spinel with a perfectly neutral grey color.

The name itself comes from the Latin word ‘spina’ and this refers to the way the crystals grow, in a spine-like or spike formation. Spinels are strongly associated with cleansing, creativity, and inspiration. Grey, as a colour, is often said to be the colour of control and compromise.
